The Soaring Eagles remained the only team to capture first place in the USCHO.com Division III Women’s Poll in the 2002-2003 season, despite remaining idle this week. Elmira returns to action Saturday and Sunday, hosting Neumann.
The biggest results of the week came from Williams, making a tour through the west. After defeating No. 7 Wis.-Stevens Point 2-1 in overtime in a defensive battle, the Ephs downed No. 9 Wis.-River Falls by the identical score before finally losing 3-1 to Gustavus Adolphus. Williams climbs two spots to No. 5 with the wins over ranked opponents.
Eight of the top ten teams will see action next week, but the only ranked teams that will face each other is the eagerly-awaited battle between the NCHA titans, No. 7 Wis.-Stevens Point and No. 9 Wis.-River Falls. This weekend could well determine the outcome of the NCHA regular season struggle.
The USCHO.com Poll is compiled by U.S. College Hockey Online, and consists of 12 voters, all coaches of Division III programs.
