ECAC Signs TV Deal

The ECAC and CSTV (College Sports Television) have come to terms on a multi-year television deal, it was announced today at the league’s annual media day. The agreement allows for a number of ECAC Hockey League games to be broadcast throughout the season as well as the tournament championship game in March.

“The ECAC Hockey League is excited to have this partnership with CSTV,” said Steve Hagwell, ECAC Hockey League Acting Commissioner. “The agreement allows the [ECAC] to have multiple league games presented to a national audience throughout the season. We are delighted to offer our fans the opportunity to see these games, as well as our championship final over the next few seasons.”

CSTV is set to announce its entire hockey schedule shortly. Which ECAC games are on the schedule will be announced at that time.

“The ECAC Hockey League traditionally produces many of the best teams and student-athletes in college hockey,” said Chris Bevilacqua, co-founder and executive vice president, CSTV. “Our telecasts, the only national telecasts of hockey at any level, will provide fans nationwide with an opportunity to experience college hockey at its finest, and to get a first-hand look at the NHL stars of tomorrow.”

CSTV has added to its portfolio in the past year. In addition to becoming the first 24-hour college sports TV network, and the first network to air a college hockey game of the week, it now has the leading college sports online network: CollegeSports.com. Plus, it had added the first ever 24-hour college sports radio network, SIRIUS College Sports Radio, picked up numerous new cable outlets in addition to its availability on satellite, and become the home of Mountain West Conference.
