The top six teams stayed put in this week’s USCHO.com Men’s Division III Poll. No. 1 St. Norbert held onto the top spot after a shutout of St. Scholastica and a tie with Wisconsin-Superior, and received 13 first-place votes.
At No. 2 is Manhattanville, with the two remaining first-place votes; the Valiants downed Neumann in action last weekend. In the third spot is St. John’s after two MIAC wins over St. Thomas.
No. 4 Norwich defeated St. Anselm and New England to maintain its position in the poll, while No. 5 Superior downed Lake Forest in addition to the tie with St. Norbert.
At No. 6 again this week is Trinity after a weekend that saw the Bantams beat Williams and tie Middlebury. Moving up to No. 7 is Oswego; the Lakers blanked Fredonia and beat Buffalo State to clinch the SUNYAC regular-season title.
Dropping one spot to No. 8 is Middlebury; the Panthers shutout Wesleyan in addition to tying Trinity. Moving up two places to No. 9 is Wisconsin-River Falls after wins against Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Babson jumped from No. 15 to No. 10 with wins over Curry, Skidmore, and Castleton State, while Bowdoin dropped two places to No. 11 after losing to Southern Maine, despite wins over Colby and Salem State.
At No. 12 is St. Thomas, dropping just two positions after a pair of losses to St. John’s, while entering the poll is Utica, which beat RIT handily at home and Hobart on the road.
No. 14 Fredonia fell two places after a loss to Oswego and a win over Cortland. Rounding out the poll is Geneseo, which eked out a second-place finish in the SUNYAC with a tie against Potsdam after a loss at Plattsburgh.
Other teams receiving votes were Hobart, Curry, Colby, RIT, and St. Olaf.
The USCHO.com Poll is compiled by U.S. College Hockey Online, and consists
of 15 voters, including coaches and beat writers from across the country.
