The North Dakota Fighting Sioux, who have been winning praise for their recent performance on the ice, have come under some less-welcome scrutiny for off-ice behavior.
Three North Dakota players were involved in a matter at a Grand Forks, N.D., bar Sunday night in which two citations were issued, while a third charge was possible, a Grand Forks television station reported.
North Dakota forwards Jonathan Toews and T.J. Oshie, both of whom are below the legal drinking age of 21, were cited for being minors inside Judy’s Tavern Sunday, according to WDAZ-TV. Meanwhile, teammate Robbie Bina, a defenseman, reportedly may face charges of obstructing a police officer. Bina is 24.
Fighting Sioux head coach Dave Hakstol, who did not comment on the incident, said it would be handled internally, according to the report.
