Bracketology 2/23

Things are a little tricky with this week’s version We’re again using the NCAA rankings, but they’re a little out of whack because Castleton is out of the rankings this week as a penalty for not reporting its scores to the NCAA on time. This not only affects the Spartans, but teams that have played them, since they are temporarily unranked.

If the season ended today, the AQs would go to:

ECAC East — Norwich

ECAC Northeast — Mas-Dartmouth

MIAC — Bethel

NCHA — Wisconsin-River Falls (wins tiebreaker with St. Norbert and UW-Stout)

NESCAC — Bowdoin (wins tiebreaker with Middlebury)

SUNYAC — Oswego

Using the PWR:

The Pool B bid goes to Manhattanville, which is the top Pool B team in the PWR and is 3-0-1 in individual matchups over Neumann, the next closest Pool B team.

Based on the rankings this week, I’m predicting that the Pool C bids at the moment go to St. Norbert, Neumann and UW-Stout right now, with a case also being made for UW-Superior (and a case will be made since the YellowJackets are hosting the D-III Frozen Four).

That leaves us a field of (ranked by NCAA Rankings):

East:

  1. Oswego
  2. Manhattanville
  3. Norwich
  4. Mass-Dartmouth
  5. Neumann
  6. Bowdoin

West:

  1. St. Norbert
  2. UW-River Falls
  3. UW-Stout
  4. Bethel

This would mean the first round would be:

  • Bowdoin at Norwich
  • Neumann at Mass-Dartmouth

Quarterfinals would be:

  • Bowdoin/Norwich at Oswego
  • Neumann/Mass-Dartmouth at Manhattanville
  • Bethel at St. Norbert
  • UW-Stout at UW-River Falls

Winners meet in Superior.
