Monday Morning Press Mess: Nov. 1

Not much in the way of upsets during the weekend just past, as teams ranked in the top ten in last week’s USCHO poll went a combined 11-2-3. The two losses were suffered by No. 6 Minnesota in their Northward slog to Duluth.

The No. 3 ranked Bulldogs took a pair of one-goal games from its down state rival from Minneapolis, running its mastery of the Gophers to six straight wins. The Duluth News-Tribune gives the skinny on Friday’s 3-2 win.

Bemidji’s Erin Cody, who we spotlighted in our D-1 column two weeks back is a natural. She proved it by scoring three straight goals in Friday’s 3-2 win over St. Cloud. Eric Stromgren tells you all about it in the Bemidji Pioneer.

After forging a 3-3 season opening tie with Yale, No. 9 Harvard followed with a 4-2 win over Brown, to wrap up the first week of Ivy League action. Read the account by B. Marjorie Gullick in the Harvard Crimson.

Meanwhile, No. 2 Cornell moved to 4-0-0 overall (2-0-0 ECAC) with a pair of road wins at Quinnipiac and Princeton.
Ware Cady tells you all about it in the Cornell Sun.

Staying with the college press (who knows, we may be asking one of these guys for a job, someday), the Badger Herald details top ranked Wisconsin’s sweep of Minnesota State. Tom Sakash saw it all.
