Injured Denver forward Jesse Martin underwent surgery Monday afternoon at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., to stabilize a broken C2 vertebra in his neck and the surgery went as planned, according to a DU media release.
Doctors will reassess Martin’s condition on Tuesday morning.
The surgery was performed by Alex Mendez, M.D., and Robert Morgan, M.D.
Dr. Mendez specializes in cranial-based neurosurgical procedures and both complex and minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Morgan specializes in complex spine surgery and reconstruction.
Martin suffered the injury when he was checked by North Dakota’s Brad Malone on Oct. 30.
