My picks within the league have been pathetic all season, and last week was no exception. I figured the home teams would prevail and couldn’t have been more wrong.
I’m almost afraid to make my pick for this week’s championship game, as No. 5 Neumann takes on No. 3 Hobart.
Neumann has experience and a senior class that wants to keep playing one more game on its side. The Knights have staged two dramatic third period comebacks to win in overtime so far in the playoffs.
Hobart, on the other hand, is playing its best hockey of the year and works hard every shift. The Statesmen have settled in to their defensive system, and are rallying around the return of goaltender Nick Broadwater.
The editors will yell at me if I don’t pick a team, though, so I predict that Neumann will continue its dramatic run.
Last Week: 0-2
Overall: 51-26 (.662)
