Joey Gasparini has joined the Massachusetts hockey staff as an assistant coach.
“The University of Massachusetts is a program rich with tradition and history and I am honored to become a part of it,” said Gasparini in a statement. “I am extremely excited to join John [Micheletto’s] staff and the entire UMass family. I plan on bringing a lot of energy and passion to the job as we look to build on past successes to bring a championship to Amherst.”
An assistant at Vermont the past three years alongside Micheletto, Gasparini played a major role in recruiting and managed the Catamounts’ forwards.
Gasparini, who played at Vermont from 2002-06, spent the 2006-07 season serving as a regional scout with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the United States Hockey League and then the following year, he joined the USHL’s Fargo Force as a regional scout.
