Graham Johnson has been named an assistant coach at American International.
“We are most pleased to have Graham join our staff,” said AIC head coach Gary Wright in a statement. “His association with some great college and junior programs has allowed him to ascend quickly in the coaching profession and we expect him to have a big impact on our hockey program.”
Johnson joins the Yellow Jackets after spending the 2011-12 season as an assistant coach with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League. He spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Hamilton and during the 2008-09 season was an assistant at Quinnipiac.
A 2007 graduate of Rhode Island, Johnson was a member of the Rams’ hockey team for four seasons, helping lead the team to four league titles, four consecutive appearances in the national quarterfinals and the 2006 national championship. He also coached at his alma mater after graduation.
