Hurricane Sandy strands St. Cloud State women in Providence

The St. Cloud State women’s team is currently stuck in Providence due to the storms caused by Hurricane Sandy, according to a school-issued news release

The Huskies were in town to play Providence on Oct. 27-28 and were slated to fly out of Boston on Oct. 29, but the incoming storms cancelled flights out of Boston and the team is stuck at a hotel in downtown Providence until further notice, which could be as late as Thursday, Nov. 1.

Snow and heavy rains also prevented the team from getting a bus out of town.

SCSU is hoping to get back in time for its weekend series at home against Ohio State on Nov. 2-3.

In other hurricane-related news, the men’s game scheduled for Tuesday between Penn State and Fredonia was postponed. It has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 11.
