Alaska-Anchorage forward Karl leaves Seawolves for Canada, D-III options

Alaska-Anchorage sophomore forward Corbin Karl will depart the Seawolves’ program after the holiday break, the school announced Wednesday.

“Corbin has decided it would be more financially feasible to pursue an education and play hockey back at home in Canada or at a Division III school,” said UAA coach Dave Shyiak in a statement. “We certainly understand how difficult it can be when you are paying all this money and not playing. Corbin is a fine young man and we respect his decision. We thank him for all his efforts and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Karl has yet to dress in a game this year, but did post three goals and three assists in 24 games during the 2011-12 season.
