Brown sophomore defenseman Taki Pantziris has left school to play with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League.
Pantziris had a goal and an assist in seven games this year at Brown and made his OHL debut on Dec. 28, the same day his OHL rights were obtained by Sarnia from the Guelph Storm.
“You can never have enough depth on defense,” said Sarnia GM Jacques Beaulieu in a news release. “We have done our homework on him and our Toronto-area scouts really like Taki and feel he can step right in and contribute. He made the decision to come play in our league and we think he is going to be a real good fit for us.”
Last year, Pantziris, a 19-year-old from Toronto, played four games for the Bears and was held without a point.
