Salve Regina vs. Utica
Salve Regina has a tough draw on Friday night. No other easy way to say it. The Seahawks are just 4-7-1, would love to have a few games back, and now have to face the No. 8 team in the country … on the road.
Utica indeed will host Salve on Friday night, and the home team is streaking. The Pioneers (9-2) have won four straight, including a win over another ECAC Northeast team, Nichols, on Dec. 8 (4-1). It’s tough to think they won’t get another win over this conference right here. Utica is 7-1, after all, at home, and should be greeted by a packed house this time around, as the Pioneers play for the first time in a little less than a month. Utica 6-3
Saturday, Jan. 5
Wentworth vs. Massachusetts-Boston
The Codfish Bowl in Boston features a dandy of a Saturday matinee, as the Beacons (7-2-1) take on the enigmatic Leopards. Wentworth, at 6-5-1, has puzzled at times, but here’s thinking coach R.J. Tolan has the troops focused for the stretch run. A big win over the Beacons could go a long way toward building some confidence with the heart of ECAC Northeast play still in front of the Leopards. Wentworth 2-1
Sunday, Jan. 6
Becker vs. Southern New Hampshire
The St. Michael’s Tournament offers the Hawks a decent shot to gain some momentum. On Sunday, they draw the struggling Penmen (2-7-2), a team that has allowed 17 goals in its last three games. Becker has won its last two by a combined 6-1 count, and if the defense keeps up that mojo, everything should be fine here. Becker 5-1
Last week: 1-2; Overall: 16-9-1.
