Finally, a slight improvement to my weekly picks! Last weekend, I went 5-3-0, bringing my season total to 45-34-4 (.542). Now I’m hoping I can stay above .500 for the remaining weeks of the season.
This weekend, we have Lawrence and Marian facing off in a home-and-home series. Concordia and Milwaukee School of Engineering will also be playing a game in each barn for their series. Northland will host Finlandia, while Lake Forest travels to Adrian. I’m picking all splits this weekend, so if history has taught me anything, bring out the brooms!
Friday-Saturday, Feb. 1-2
Marian vs. Lawrence
Marian (7-7-0) split a series with last place Finlandia last weekend. Lawrence (5-7-2) split a series with Northland. Lawrence hosts on Friday, while Marian will be the home team on Saturday. Currently, they are the top two teams in the Northern Division, so they are in a good place for points. Lawrence could make a run for the top spot in the division with a sweep this weekend. Marian swept Lawrence earlier this season (Nov. 15-16). Lawrence 4-1, Marian 3-1
Concordia vs. MSOE
Concordia (6-8-0) was swept by Lake Forest last weekend. MSOE (8-5-1) was swept by Adrian. The two teams met earlier this season, with MSOE getting a sweep with 6-1 and 3-2 scores. Concordia is currently on a four-game losing streak, but they’ll want the points this weekend to make the playoff cut. MSOE 4-1, Concordia 4-1
Finlandia at Northland
Currently, both teams are at the bottom of the Northern Division, and will fight this weekend for some crucial points. Finlandia (4-10-0) had an impressive split with Marian last weekend. Northland (5-9-0) held their own in a split with Lawrence. The last meeting between Finlandia and Northland ended in a split. Finlandia 2-1, Northland 4-1
Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 2-3
Lake Forest at Adrian
Adrian (12-0-2) remains unbeaten this season in the conference, as it swept past MSOE last weekend. Lake Forest (6-7-1) swept Concordia. The Foresters are on a five-game winning streak, and have gone 7-1 in their last eight games. Adrian took the sweep earlier this season. I think the Foresters are riding high on their wins and have the potential for a split. Lake Forest 2-1, Adrian 4-1
