The CCHA announced Wednesday that three players have been suspended for one game as a result of incidents that occurred last Saturday between Western Michigan and Ferris State.
Western Michigan sophomore forward Justin Kovacs, Ferris State freshman forward Dakota Klecha and Ferris State senior forward Matthew Kirzinger will all sit their team’s next games.
Kovacs was suspended for a tripping the goalie penalty and is eligible to play against Miami on Feb. 9.
Klecha received major and disqualification penalties for contact to the head and is ineligible to play this weekend at Northern Michigan (one game for the disqualification penalty plus one game under supplemental discipline).
Kirzinger received major and disqualification penalties for excessive roughness and is also out for the NMU series this weekend.
Both Klecha and Kirzinger are eligible to return to the lineup on Feb. 15.
