The NCAA has released the third of three weekly Division III men’s hockey regional rankings. This is the final update prior to the announcement of the NCAA field on Sunday, March 3.
Norwich moves into the No. 1 spot in the east, up from No. 2 in the two previous rankings. Utica and Hobart, upset in semifinal games in the ECAC West, drop in the east rankings: Utica to No. 2 and Hobart three places to No. 6. Oswego moves up two positions to No. 3 in the east.
In the west region, St. John’s and St. Scholastica drop out of the rankings, while Milwaukee School of Engineering and Marian re-enter at No. 6 and No. 8 respectively, after one week out of the rankings. Wisconsin-Eau Claire remains atop the rankings for a third week.
A similar process to the three published rankings will be followed on selection Sunday to determine seeding and at-large berths but those results will not be published.
The complete list of rankings includes 16 teams from the east region and 8 teams from the west region.
