Western Michigan’s DeKeyser finally makes decision, chooses Red Wings

After announcing he was leaving school to pursue an NHL free-agent deal, Western Michigan junior defenseman Dan DeKeyser chose the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.

DeKeyser, a two-time CCHA best defensive defenseman award winner, leaves the Broncos after 118 total games where he recorded 12 goals and 49 points with a plus-23 plus-minus rating.

This past season, DeKeyser, a Michigan native, finished with 15 points on two goals and 13 assists
