The Chicago Blackhawks announced Thursday that they have agreed to terms with St. Lawrence freshman forward Matt Carey on a two-year contract and will join Chicago immediately.
Carey tallied 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points in 38 games this season with the Saints. He shared the team lead in goals, while ranking second in points and power-play goals (11).
Earlier Thursday, Carey was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team for the 2013-14 season.
Prior to arriving at St. Lawrence, Carey posted 153 points in 93 games with Hamilton and Toronto of the Ontario Junior Hockey League from 2010 to 2012.
