The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League announced Sunday that they have signed forward Josh Archibald to an amateur tryout agreement.
Archibald just finished his junior season at Nebraska-Omaha where he registered 29 goals, 14 assists and 43 points in 37 games, setting a new school record for goals. Over three seasons with the Mavericks, he compiled 58 goals and 94 points in 112 games.
Recently named a Hobey Baker finalist, Archibald was also named the NCHC player and forward of the year this season.
Archibald was a sixth-round pick (174th overall) of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2011 NHL draft. Over three seasons with the University of Nebraska-Omaha, he has totaled 94 points (58g-36a) and 129 penalty minutes in 112 contests.
