Brad Dexter is leaving his position as assistant coach at Colgate to take the same job in new Princeton coach Ron Fogarty’s staff.
Dexter coached at Colgate, his alma mater, for nine years after a pro career.
A defenseman at Colgate from 1991 to 1996, Dexter played alongside Fogarty in his collegiate career.
“I am excited that Brad chose to join Princeton hockey and I’m eager to work with him,” Fogarty said in a statement. “He will be able to recruit exceptional student-athletes through his existing contacts in amateur and professional hockey. Our players will benefit from his knowledge, teaching skills and approach to the game.”
Dexter played in the ECHL, IHL and AHL as well as in Denmark after his Colgate career.
During a one-year break in his playing career, Dexter was an assistant coach at Clarkson in the 2001-02 season. That followed two seasons as a player-coach at South Carolina in the ECHL.
“I am extremely honored to have the opportunity to join the Princeton hockey family,” Dexter said in a statement. “The opportunity to work with Ron and the exceptional student-athletes at Princeton is something that I am really looking forward to.”
