Castleton has announced the hiring of Steph Moberg as head coach of the women’s team.
“We’re thrilled to hire someone with such an impressive background,” said associate dean for athletics and recreation Deanna Tyson in a news release. “Steph excelled as a player at one of the top hockey programs in the country (Plattsburgh) and has excelled in her time as an assistant coach at both Colby and Connecticut College.”
Moberg was a two-time All-American at Plattsburgh, winning national championships in 2007 and 2008, and spent the past season as an assistant with the Colby women’s team. Prior to Colby, Moberg served as an assistant at Connecticut College for two seasons.
“I’m honored and excited to take this position,” added Moberg. “Castleton is a program on the rise and I look forward to pushing this program to new heights. I’m thankful to Deanna Tyson, president Dave Wolk and the entire search committee for this great opportunity.”
A 2010 graduate of Plattsburgh, Moberg was an AHCA First Team All-American in 2009 and 2010, was the runner-up for national player of the year honors in 2010 and was named the ECAC West player of the year in 2010.
