Harvard associate head coach Maura Crowell has been picked to take over as head coach at Minnesota-Duluth, the school announced Friday.
Crowell takes over for Shannon Miller, whose contract was not renewed after a 16-year career that included five national championships.
Crowell was Harvard’s interim head coach in 2013-14 while Katey Stone coached the U.S. Olympic team, then returned to an assistant position last season, when the Crimson made it to the national championship game.
A former Colgate player, Crowell has been on the staff at Harvard since 2010 after a five-year stint as head coach at Massachusetts-Boston and two seasons as a Connecticut College assistant.
She was a finalist for the 2014 ECAC Hockey coach of the year award while filling in for Stone, and she was the ECAC East coach of the year while with UMass-Boston in 2010.
