Massachusetts-Boston has named Lindsay Berman the interim women’s coach.
Berman replaces Colleen Harris, who stepped down earlier this summer due to “health reasons.”
“Lindsay Berman spent time on our coaching staff in the past, and she worked extremely hard for us,” said UMB vice chancellor for athletics and recreation, special projects and programs Charlie Titus in a statement. “It is wonderful to witness an assistant coach leave to get more and different experiences, then return to lead the team she formerly assisted with. I am excited that Coach Berman has this opportunity, and I am confident that she will be outstanding in her new role.”
Berman, who played at Northeastern from 2006 to 2010, spent the 2014-15 campaign at Brown, where she served as the top assistant.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to return to UMass Boston as head coach of the women’s hockey program,” added Berman. “I want to thank Charlie Titus, Terry Condon, Cheryl Aaron and the entire UMass Boston athletic department for this wonderful opportunity. I’m thrilled to be back in the great city of Boston where it all started for me.
“I am excited to continue to build upon the success and progress of the women’s hockey program, and I am eager to collaborate with our student-athletes, who work tirelessly in the classroom, on the ice, and in the community.”
As a player, Berman played in 135 games at Northeastern, was a team captain and gained one of seven spots on Northeastern’s All-Decade Team (2002-12).
A 2011 graduate of Northeastern, Berman went on to play for the Boston Blades in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League from 2010 to 2014 after her career as a Husky. Berman captained the team during the 2013-14 season and won the league’s title, the Clarkson Cup, in 2012-13.
