With seven first-place votes, Boston College finishes atop Hockey East men’s preseason coaches’ poll

Boston College is the coaches’ pick to win Hockey East in 2015-16, getting seven of 12 first-place votes to edge Boston University by just eight voting points.

The poll results were announced at Hockey East media day Monday in Boston.

The Eagles were also the Hockey East media pick, with those results announced Sunday.

At media day, it was revealed that longtime Boston Globe writer Nancy Marrapese-Burrell is the 24th recipient of the league’s Joe Concannon Award, which annually honors a media member that has done an exemplary job covering Hockey East.

In addition, Hockey East also announced a two-year agreement with American Sports Network to televise Hockey East games through the 2016-17 season. The 2015-16 slate of games is comprised of 14 contests, including nine conference matchups, the women’s Hockey East championship game and one men’s playoff tilt.

“Hockey East is excited about joining with the American Sports Network to bring the best of college hockey to fans across the country,” said Hockey East commissioner Joe Bertagna in a news release. “This innovative package marks a major step for our sport in how we promote our game. We look forward to a long relationship with ASN.”

ASN will broadcast select Hockey East contests as part of a Friday night doubleheader, showcasing eastern college hockey programs at 6 p.m. EDT, followed by western teams at 9 p.m.
