Women’s D-III wrap: Nov. 8

Plattsburgh will surely maintain the top spot in this week’s USCHO.com Division III Women’s Poll after the Cardinals dominated Neumann with wins of 8-0 and 9-1 over the weekend. Melissa Sheeran (three goals, assist) and Kayle Meneghin (goal, three assists) led the way in Saturday’s 8-0 win and then Sunday, Meneghin posted her same line as Saturday and Giovanna Senese, Bridget Balisy, and Sheeran all had three-point afternoons.

Camille Leonard and Kassi Abbott each picked up a win in goal for Plattsburgh, which also outshot Neumann 139-29 in the two games.

No. 2 Adrian won both of its games at home, beating both St. Norbert and Concordia (Wis.). Saturday, in a 4-2 win over SNC, Jade Walsh finished with 29 saves and Sydney Smith scored and added a helper. Sunday, the Bulldogs spotted Concordia a 2-1 lead after two periods, but roared back to take another 4-2 victory with three goals in the final period. Brooke Lupi’s goal at 13:18 of the third stood as the game-winner.

No. 3 Elmira was idle this past weekend, as was No. 4 St. Thomas and fifth-ranked Middlebury.

Wisconsin-River Falls came into the weekend sixth in the nation and earned two wins against Hamline and Bethel. The Falcons used seven different goal-scorers (Chloe Kinsel with two) and a 23-save combined effort from Angie Hall and Kylie Hommerding in the 8-0 win over Hamline Friday night before Kinsel scored two more in a 5-1 win over Bethel on Saturday.

No. 7 Norwich grabbed back-to-back shutouts on the road, beating both University of New England Friday and Southern Maine Saturday by identical 3-0 scores. Celeste Robert won both in net for Norwich.

At No. 8, Gustavus Adolphus tied Wisconsin-Superior, 2-2, last Tuesday before beating St. Olaf, 4-1, Friday night. Four different players scored for GAC and all three goalies — Lindsey Hibbard, Amanda DiNella and Paige Press — all saw time in the crease during the game. DiNella was credited with the win.

Trinity, ranked No. 9 last week, did not play.
