Not many freshmen have an immediate impact on a team in their inaugural season.
Then again, not many first-year players are named Brooke Lupi.
Lupi, playing her first season for Adrian in 2015-16, tallied 16 goals and 34 points in 28 games for the Bulldogs and is the USCHO.com Division III Women’s Rookie of the Year.
The native of Dexter, Mich., started the season pointless in her first three games against Elmira, Plattsburgh, and St. Norbert, but then scored in two straight games against Concordia (Wis.) and Marian.
On Nov. 21 at Finlandia, Lupi posted her first hat trick of the season and then added another Jan. 15 at Concordia (Wis.).
Lupi fashioned a pair of four-point games with a two-goal, two-assist outing Jan. 16 at Concordia (Wis.) and then registered a goal and three assists a week later at home against Finlandia.
For the season, Lupi recorded points in 18 of her 28 games and also put together a nine-game point streak from Jan. 6 to Jan. 29, where she posted 11 goals and 12 assists.
Adrian was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament this season after winning the Slaats Cup as NCHA playoff champions.
