Boston College will retire Mike Mottau’s No. 3 jersey during the Sunday, Nov. 27 game at 1 p.m. EDT against Minnesota. The number will stay in rotation, however. Mottau is BC’s career record holder for most assists all-time (130) and 22nd all-time in points (157, most by a BC defenseman). He played in 163 career games for the Eagles, tying him for ninth all-time. As captain in 1999-2000, Mottau won the Hobey Baker Award. The New York Rangers drafted Mottau in the 1997 NHL Draft and retired at the age of 36 after playing in 321 games with the New York Rangers, Calgary, New Jersey, New York Islanders, Boston and Florida.
