Minnesota St. 6, Boston University 3

Minnesota State put on a scoring display in Boston thanks to junior defenseman Daniel Brickley’s four point night. No. 2 Boston University jumped out to an early 2-1 lead in the first period, but the Mavericks fired right back with four unanswered goals. Maverick goaltender Connor LaCouvee made 32 saves in the win.

Northern Michigan 3, Ferris State 2

Despite outshooting Northern Michigan 42-20, Ferris State lost a nail-biter. Troy Loggins broke the tie 7:18 into the third period. Northern Michigan goaltender Atte Tolvanen stood on his head, saving 40 shots.

Michigan Tech 4, Lake Superior State 3

Michigan Tech avoided a Lakers comeback late in the third period to take the WCHA win. MTU took control early, scoring two goals in the first period. The Lakers seemed to have finally gotten up to speed in the second, cutting the deficit to one. The slow start proved costly for Lake Superior as they could not muster enough for the late come from behind win. Gavin Gould scored two goals for the Huskies.

Bemidji St. 5, Minnesota-Duluth 2

The Beavers had a tough task going into the barn of a team that was a couple goals away from being national champions last year. The Bulldogs came away with the only goal in the first period, and the Beavers tied the game in the second. The third period would be all Beavers as they scored three goals to put the Bulldogs away. Minnesota-Duluth led with 29 shots on goal compared to Bemidji States 17.

St. Cloud State 6, Alaska 3

Despite getting off to an early 3-0 lead in the first, St. Cloud State would take full control of the tilt by scoring six unanswered goals. Jimmy Schuldt and Nick Poehling both scored twice for St. Cloud State. Alaska goaltender Anton Martinsson made 36 saves on 42 shots in the loss.
