No. 1 Wisconsin at No. 7 Cornell
Sophia Shaver scored twice, and Alexis Mauermann added a power-play goal to give Wisconsin a 3-0 lead. Madlynne Mills scored with just more than four minutes to go, but the Big Red could not close the gap and Wisconsin won game one 3-1. On Saturday, Brette Pettet scored in the second and Presley Norby scored in the third to give Wisconsin a lead. Mills scored a five-on-three power-play goal with :13 left to close the gap, but it was too little, too late, as the Badgers won 2-1 and swept the weekend.
No. 2 Boston College at No. 8 St. Lawrence
Hannah Miller scored in the first period and Kennedy Marchment extended the lead in the second before Makenna Newkirk made it close in the third, but BC could not come back and the Saints took Friday’s game 2-1. It was Boston College’s first loss of the season. On Saturday, Newkirk had two more goals and Willow Corson scored a pair of her own to lead the Eagles to a 6-3 win. It was BC goalie Katie Burt’s 100th career win.
No. 3 Clarkson at Vermont
Alyssa Gorecki opened the scoring, giving Vermont a 1-0 lead after the first period. Michaela Pejzlova tallied two power-play goals in the second before Gorecki tied it for the Catamounts. Taylor Willard scored with 1:08 to go to give Vermont the 3-2 win. It was Vermont’s first-ever win over a top-three team. Clarkson outshot Vermont 35-17. On Saturday, the Golden Knights responded with two goals from Rhyen McGill, another from Pejzlova, and one from Loren Gabel to take a 4-0 win and the weekend split.
No. 4 Colgate at New Hampshire
Nicole Dunbar put New Hampshire on the board first, but from there it was all Colgate on Friday. Shae Labbe scored three times for Colgate en route to a 7-1 win. On Saturday, Carlee Turner put UNH ahead first, but two goals from Breanne Wilson-Bennet gave Colgate the win. New Hampshire outshot Colgate, 36-22, in the loss.
Minnesota State at No. 5 Ohio State
Brittyn Fleming had the Mavericks up 1-0 heading into the second period, but goals from Lauren Spring and Maddie Field earned the 2-1 victory for Ohio State on Friday. Jordan Jackson and Jordan McLaughlin once again gave Mankato a lead, but the Buckeyes fought back, scoring five goals over the final 43 minutes of the game. Lauren Boyle had two goals and an assist, and Julia Iafallo had three assists to lead Ohio State to a 5-3 win and a weekend sweep.
No. 6 Minnesota at Mercyhurst
On Friday, Nicole Schammel had Minnesota up 1-0 heading into the third period, but Maggie Knott scored for the Lakers to force overtime. Taylor Wente scored in the extra frame to give Minnesota the 2-1 win. On Saturday, Wente, Kate Robinson, and Alex Woken all scored first-period goals to give the Gophers a lead they would not relinquish. Sam Isbell and Knott scored for Mercyhurst, but Minnesota won 5-2 and swept the weekend.
No. 9 Providence at Maine
Maine’s Michelle Weis scored the first and last goals of the contest, while Providence’s Maureen Murphy scored two in a row in the middle in this 2-2 tie.
RIT at No. 10 Robert Morris
On Friday, Brittany Howard led the Colonials with two goals and two assists in RMU’s 6-1 win at home. Kaelyn Johnson was the lone goal scorer for RIT. On Saturday, Howard had two more goals, and Amber Rennie added a goal and two assists to pace Robert Morris to a 5-2 win and weekend sweep. Both RIT goals were scored by Claudia Black and assisted by Kandice Sheriff.
