Alaska Anchorage adds Sacred Heart transfer Butcher, freshman Trott leaves program

Alaska Anchorage announced Thursday that senior forward Alec Butcher will be eligible to play in this weekend’s series with Minnesota State after transferring from Sacred Heart.

Butcher, a native of Anchorage, played in 75 career games at Sacred Heart, recording eight goals and 28 assists for 36 points, including a career-high 22 assists during his sophomore campaign.

Prior to Sacred Heart, Butcher played two seasons for the NAHL’s Kenai River Brown Bears. The 2013-14 NAHL MVP and Forward of the Year, Butcher led the NAHL in 2013-14 in scoring with 66 points (24 goals, 42 assists) in 60 games.

Alaska Anchorage also announced that freshman defenseman Cameron Trott has left the program.
