The NCHC has issued a one-game suspension to North Dakota sophomore forward Cole Smith, stemming from an illegal hit during UND’s game against Denver Friday night, Jan. 26, at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, N.D.
During the game, Smith was assessed a major penalty for contact to the head and given a game misconduct penalty for the illegal hit at 3:14 of the third period.
Smith will be required to serve the one-game suspension during UND’s series finale tonight against Denver. He is eligible to return for the Fighting Hawks’ series opener with Colorado College on Feb. 9.
