No. 2 Plattsburgh vs. Oswego
On Friday, Plattsburgh exploded for five goals in the first. Kayla Meneghin, Abby Brush, Melissa Sheeran, Madison Walker, and Meghan Kraus each scored for the Cardinals. Julieann White scored for Oswego and it was 5-1 after the first. Meneghin extended the lead for Plattsburgh in the third before Laura Thacker scored with 10 seconds remaining in the game to cut the lead to 6-2. It was a different story on Saturday as Oswego got on the board first thanks to a goal from Olivia Ellis. Plattsburgh took a 2-1 lead late into the third thanks to power-play goals from Courtney Moriarty and Sheeran, but Victoria Blake evened the score in the final minute to force overtime and earn the 2-2 tie for Oswego. The Lakers held Plattsburgh to just 25 shots over the four periods.
William Smith vs. No. 3 Elmira
Elmira built up a 2-0 lead over the first two periods thanks to goals from Meghan Fonfara and Katie Granato. William Smith responded in the third as Stephanie Hampton and Taylor Morash tied the game at two for the Herons, which proved the final score. William Smith goalie Maggie Salmon recorded a season-high 50 saves. On Saturday, Granato put the Soaring Eagles up in the second and Gina Scibetta tied it up with a power-play goal in the third. Elmira escaped with an overtime win thanks to a goal on the first shot of the extra frame from Shannon Strawinski.
Wisconsin-Stevens Point vs. Wisconsin-Eau Claire
This one was scoreless for more than 50 minutes. Alex Grubbs scored to put Wis.-Stevens Point on the board first, but Sami Meister scored with 1:58 left in regulation to force overtime, and Jaedyn Walz won it for Wis.-Eau Claire in overtime. On Saturday, Mariah Czech scored an unassisted goal just 1:26 into the game to give Wis.-Eau Claire the 1-0 lead. Ellie Punnett responded for Wis.-Superior, and that 1-1 tie held until late in the third, when Czech scored the game-winning, power-play goal to earn the sweep for the Blugolds.
Augsburg vs. St. Benedict
On Friday, Megan Robertson put Augsburg on the board first, but Brigette Miller and Riley Schneider scored to give Saint Benedict the 2-1 lead that would hold for nearly 40 minutes. Taral Clayton tied it up for Augsburg with 2:55 left in regulation and Nikki Nightengale scored the game-winner in overtime to give the Auggies a 3-2 win. On Saturday, five different Auggies scored and Megan Johnson led the team with a goal and an assist en route to a 5-2 win and a weekend sweep.
Endicott at Canton
Maggie Layo scored for Endicott on a power play early in the second period, and Jessica Pele responded just more than a minute later to tie up the game for Canton. Courtney Walpole’s goal 1:56 into the final frame was enough to give Endicott the 2-1 win on Friday. The two teams were tied at one just six minutes into the first period on Saturday, but from there it was all Endicott. Jade Meier put on a show in the second, scoring three goals and helping the Gulls to a 6-2 win and weekend sweep.
