This Week’s Picks

Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17
Army West Point at Bentley
Chris: Army West Point will look to spoil the opening of Bentley’s new Arena. I’m thinking the Falcons will be extra psyched to open their new digs with a win. Bentley wins on Friday, Army West Point on Saturday.
Dan: With all the hype of the Bentley Arena, this series will boil down to who can handle the distractions best. Army’s been here before, so I think they come away with a win. But one walk around the Bentley campus this week is a sign that this team is ready for a breakout party on Friday. Bentley wins on Friday, Army West Point on Saturday.

Mercyhurst at Robert Morris
Chris: Both squads were on successful streaks but ran into a suddenly hot RIT team last week. I’m going with Mercyhurst to come back strong in what should be a close, exciting series. Mercyhurst sweeps.
Dan: Teams that play for purpose are often teams that find ways to win. RMU is playing the rest of the way in memory of Mark Workman, a true gentleman of the game of the hockey. Worky died from liver cancer this week, and I really can’t think of a good reason why. I’m rooting for the Colonials to win. RMU sweeps.

Canisius at Air Force
Chris: Canisius is looking to close in on its second consecutive regular season title, while Air Force is just two points out of a first-round bye. I going with the visitors here. Canisius sweeps.
Dan: Canisius has had a really hard time sweeping weekends in the second half, and Air Force is a team that’s pushing for a first round bye. I think there are points to be had on both ends. Canisius wins on Friday. Air Force wins on Saturday.

Saturday, February 17 and Sunday, February 18
RIT at Sacred Heart
Chris: Both teams are suddenly hot with each coming into this series riding three-game winning streaks. I’m going with a split with Sacred Heart winning Saturday and RIT winning Sunday.
Dan: If you’re not looking over your shoulder at Sacred Heart, you should be. Sacred Heart sweeps.

Saturday, February 17
Holy Cross at American International
Chris: With the standings so close, there’s a lot on the line for these teams, especially the Crusaders, who have just two regular season games left. Holy Cross wins.
Dan: The teams will play once on Saturday before meeting again next Thursday. Playing on their senior day, I’m going to go with a win that won’t feel like an upset at all.  AIC wins.
