A pair of national championship-winning players at North Dakota passed away last week.
Adam Calder, 42, died on Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer, the school announced. Peter Stasiuk, 79, died on Thursday at his home in Duluth, Minn.
As a sophomore, Calder scored an empty-net goal that sealed North Dakota’s 6-4 victory over Boston University in the 1997 NCAA championship game in Milwaukee.
Calder captained North Dakota in 1998-99, his senior season. He had 38 goals and 107 points in 141 collegiate games before launching a 14-year professional career.
Stasiuk played at North Dakota from 1960 to 1963, winning the NCAA title as a senior.
He scored 10 goals and 23 points in 79 collegiate games.
