No. 1 Wisconsin at Minnesota State
Minnesota State had been perfect on the penalty kill heading into the weekend, but the Badgers ended that run with a power-play goal by Brette Pettet in the second period. Britta Curl doubled the lead about halfway through the second period to give the Badgers a 2-0 lead. Madison Oelkers scored midway through the third, but it was not enough as Wisconsin won, 2-1. On Saturday, Abby Roque scored a power-play goal in the first, and Sophie Shirley added a goal in the second to lead the Badgers to a 2-0 win and weekend sweep.
Bemidji State at No. 2 Minnesota
It was a busy first period on Friday, as St. Cloud jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to Clair DeGeorge and Emily Bergland. Minnesota responded with two goals by Emily Oden and Grace Zumwinkle in less than 90 seconds later in the period to tie it up. DeGeorge scored her second of the period to give the Beavers the 3-2 lead heading into the first period break. From there, the Gophers took over. Alex Woken scored twice as Minnesota won 6-3. On Saturday, Taylor Williamson gave the Gophers the lead in the first. Jacqueline Kaasa tied it up for Bemidji in the second, but Zumwinkle’s third-period, power-play goal proved to be the game-winner as Minnesota took game two 2-1 and the weekend sweep.
Union at No. 3 Clarkson
After a scoreless first period, it was Union who got on the board first with a goal from Katelynn Russ, but it was all Golden Knights from there are Elizabeth Giguère and T.T. Cianfarano each had two goals and two assists.
Rensselaer at No. 3 Clarkson
After a scoreless first, Cianfarano opened the scoring for Clarkson. She added assists on goals by Emma Keenan and Michaela Pejzlová to lead the Golden Knights to a 3-0 win.
St. Cloud State at No. 4 Ohio State
Julia Tylke and Jenniina Nylund scored within 14 seconds of each other to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead heading into the first period break. Ohio State responded with goals by Emma Maltais and Madison Field in the second to tie the game at two. Field scored midway through the third to give the Buckeyes the come-from-behind win. Ohio State outshot SCSU, 39-19, in game two, including 11-3 in the opening frame. Tatum Skaggs gave the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead after the first period, but Tylke tied it up just a minute into the second. Field responded quickly to give OSU the lead once again. Charly Dahlquist scored late in the second to give Ohio State the 3-1 lead heading into the final frame. Hallie Theodosopoulos cut the deficit in half, but St. Cloud State could not complete the comeback as the Buckeyes won 3-2 and swept the weekend.
Connecticut at No. 5 Boston College
This one was pretty much all Boston College as Daryl Watts, Savannah Norcross, and Megan Keller tallied goals to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 win.
No. 5 Boston College at Providence
Providence snapped Boston College’s eight-game winning streak with a 4-2 win on Saturday. It was the first time all season that BC was held to fewer than 25 shots. Maureen Murphy put Providence on the board first just 18 seconds into the second period with a power-play goal. Daryl Watts tied it up for Boston College halfway through the period, but Christina Putigna responded less than a minute later to retake the lead for the Lady Friars. Murphy’s second proved to be the game-winner, and Putigna’s empty-netter sealed the victory for Providence. Watts scored her second midway through the third, her 50th career goal, but it was not enough to carry the comeback for BC.
No. 6 Cornell at Yale
Julia Yetman and Rebecca Foggia has Yale up 2-0 midway through the second period. Madlynne Mills scored just before the period break, and then Kristin O’Neill scored her 10th career short-handed goal, a program record, to tie up the game for Cornell. Emma Vlasic gave the Elis a 3-2 lead a few minutes later, but Cornell was able to close it out on goals from Sam Burke and O’Neill to earn the 4-3 win.
No. 6 Cornell at Brown
The Bears used three second-period goals to earn a 4-3 upset win over Cornell. Veronica Alois opened the scoring, putting Brown up 1-0 just 2:32 into the game. The Big Red responded with goals from Maddie Mills and Grace Graham to take a 2-1 lead into the first-period break. Sena Hanson scored twice in the second, and Abby Nearis tallied one on the power play to give Brown a 4-2 lead. Sam Burke closed the gap with 21 seconds to play in the second, but the Bears would hold on to the 4-3 lead to win. Calla Isaac made 38 saves in net for Brown.
No. 8 Northeastern at Holy Cross
Thirteen different Huskies recorded at least a point en route to a 6-1 win for Northeastern. The game was tied after the first thanks to a Northeastern goal from Matti Hartman and a Holy Cross goal from Carlie Magier. The Huskies used four third-period goals to pull away and earn the win. Andrea Renner, Tessa Ward, Alina Mueller, Chloe Aurard, and Kassidy Anderson also scored for Northeastern.
No. 9 Colgate at Brown
Shae Labbe and Malia Schneider scored in the first period for Colgate, while Lizzy Gross tallied one for Brown to make it 2-1 Raiders heading into the second. Olivia Zafuto doubled the lead just 18 seconds into the second period, but it was all Brown from there. Tina Paolillo scored after forcing a turnover in the offensive zone and Sena Hanson scored twice to earn Brown’s first win over a ranked opponent in more than a dozen years.
No. 9 Colgate at Yale
Sophie Veronneau put Yale on the board first midway through the first, but Malia Schneider tied the game before the end of the first. Eleri Mackay book-ended the second period with two goals for Colgate to give them a 3-1 lead heading into the third. Rebecca Foggia cut the lead for Yale with less than five minutes to go, but Colgate put the game away with goals from Schneider and Shae Labbe to earn a 5-2 win.
Rensselaer at No. 10 St. Lawrence
Maggie McLaughlin had a goal and an assist, and Jessica Poirier added two assists to lead the Saints in a 5-0 win over Rensselaer.
Union at No. 10 St. Lawrence
Kalie Grant had two goals to lead St. Lawrence in a 3-0 win over Union. Skylar Podvey also scored for the Saints in the win.
