National champion Minnesota Duluth loses Tufte year early to Dallas

The Dallas Stars announced Wednesday that the club has signed Minnesota Duluth junior forward Riley Tufte to a three-year, entry-level contract.Tufte recorded 19 points (nine goals, 10 assists) in 42 games during the 2018-19 season, helping the Bulldogs to their second straight national championship. He finished first on the team with seven power-play goals.In 121 career games, Tufte registered 64 points (34 goals, 30 assists) with a plus-28 plus/minus rating and 13 power-play goals. He also played in three straight national championship games.The native of Coon Rapids, Minn., was originally selected by Dallas in the first round (25th overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
