Six-Goal Third Period Propels Superior Past Marian, 8-1

Dan Stauber’s debut as interim hockey coach at Wisconsin-Superior was a success Friday night as the Yellow Jackets scored six times in the third period to beat Marian College 8-1 in a nonconference game.

Jeff Glowa and Milan Tomaska gave Superior a 2-0 lead with goals in each of the first two periods. Then 47 seconds into the third period, Ivan Prokic scored the first of his two goals.

Less than two minutes later, Chris Hackett scored, and at the 7:55 mark, Glowa made it 5-0 with his second goal.

Superior’s Nathan Ziemski lost his shutout at the 11:13 mark of the third period when Pat Telford scored on a power play, but Marian. Prokic, Ryan Kalbrenner and Rob Ziemmer capped the scoring for Superior.
