Foote Scores Twice as Middlebury Downs Plattsburgh

Middlebury’s Adam Foote scored a pair of goals to lead the Panthers to a 3-0 win over previously undefeated Plattsburgh at the PrimeLink Tournament on Friday.

Middlebury took a 1-0 lead with 4:45 left in the second period when Foote skated to the slot from behind the net and wristed a shot to the top corner for a five-on-three power-play goal. The period ended with a 1-0 lead for Middlebury, including a 24-8 shot advantage.

Plattsburgh had a great chance to tie the game with 11 minutes left, but Christian Carlsson stopped Joe Dolci on a breakaway.

The Panthers took a 2-0 lead 12:23 into the third period when Foote intercepted a pass and ripped home a slap shot from just inside the blue line.

Scott Goldman added a short-handed, empty-netter to close out the win at 19:09. Middlebury ended the game with a 35-12 shot advantage.

Carlsson collected 12 saves in his second shutout of the season for Middlebury, while Nicklas Sundberg made 32 saves for Plattsburgh.
