Led by Dany Heatley’s pair of goals, No. 14 Wisconsin (11-8-0, 8-5-0 WCHA) posted a 3-1 win at No. 8 St. Cloud State University (10-4-1, 5-4-0 WCHA) Friday night.
Heatley’s scoring included the first goal of the game at 9:20 of the opening period. Matt Murray scored the game-winner for UW with a tally at :39 of the first.
St. Cloud State responded in the second period with a goal by Tyler Arnason, with assists from Jon Cullen and Mark Hartigan, at 3:06 on the power play. Heatley iced the game at 17:58 of the third with his second power-play goal of the evening.
UW outshot the Huskies 34-33, with Scott Meyer posting 31 saves for SCSU and Graham Melanson gaining 32 for the Badgers. The two teams will play again on Saturday at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. CST.
