Conklin Blanks Miami For Third Place In Auld Lang Syne

Ty Conklin made 21 saves in net as No. 5 New Hampshire blanked Miami, 4-0, in Saturday’s consolation game of the Ledyard National Bank Auld Lang Syne Classic hosted by Dartmouth College.

UNH (13-4-3) got what proved to be the gamewinner just 2:40 into the contest when Josh Prudden beat Miami goaltender David Burleigh for a 1-0 lead.

The score went to 2-0 less than five minutes later when Lanny Gare netted his 10th goal of the season.

The Wildcats cushioned the lead to 3-0 at the midway point of the second on an Eric Lind goal, and Jeff Haydar rounded out the scoring with a shorthanded goal at the 7:41 mark of the third period.

For Miami (10-8-2), Burleigh made 20 saves before being relieved by David Bowen, who stopped five shots in the final 12 minutes.

The Wildcats return to action on Friday, Jan. 5 and Saturday, Jan. 6 when they host a weekend series against Maine. Miami will be off next weekend before traveling to Ferris State for a pair the next weekend.
