It was only an exhibition game, but the United States Under-18 team showed Wayne State why more than half of them will be playing Division I hockey next year as they beat the Warriors, 4-3, at the Great Lakes Sports City on Thursday.
Brian McConnell, Eric Nystrom, Matt Gens and Derek Smith scored for Team USA, while freshmen Travis Rycroft and Marc St. Jean and sophomore Dusty Kingston tallied for Wayne State.
Dwight LaBrosse got the win in goal for the U.S. while sophomore Marc Carlson suffered the defeat for the Warriors.
Wayne State travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend for a pair of College Hockey America contests against Air Force.
