In their fourth overtime game of the last month, the Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves grabbed a 2-2 tie with Minnesota-Duluth. The Seawolves are now 5-20-4 overall, 3-18-4 in the league; while the tie gave the Bulldogs a 5-22-4 record overall, 2-18-3 WCHA.
Pete Talafous got the Seawolves on the board when he redirected a Matt Shasby shot at 15:13 of the first period.
Mark Gunderson tied things up for Minnesota-Duluth at 10:23 in the second.
The Seawolves went ahead again at 19:37 that period, as Jesse Unklesbay fed a wide-open Talafous at the goal line. Talafous then centered the puck to Reggie Simon who knocked it in to give UAA a 2-1 advantage to take to the third period.
Mark Carlson got the equalizer at 12:04 of the third period and sent the game into overtime.
The Seawolves gained their only power play opportunity of the night just 18 seconds into the
extra stanza but were unable to convert. The teams finished overtime with no scoring.
The Seawolves outshot the Bulldogs, 34-19. UMD goaltender Rob Anderson stopped 32 shots in net for the Bulldogs, while Chris King registered 17 saves in the tie for the ‘Wolves.
