SLU Frosh Duggan Nets Quick Hat Trick

St. Lawrence freshman Carson Duggan scored her first collegiate goal just 21 seconds into Saturday’s game at Wayne State. Just 20 minutes and 16 seconds later, she had her first career hat trick in leading the No. 1 Saints (3-0) to a 4-0 victory.

Duggan’s goal put the Saints on the board early, assisted by freshman Marianna Locke and sophomore Sabrina Harbec. She scored her second of the game at 11:56 with assists from Harbec and senior captain Tracy Muzerall to give St. Lawrence a 2-0 lead. Duggan came out firing to start the second period, completing the hat trick just 37 seconds into the period. On the goal, Harbec picked up her third assist of the day. Twenty-four seconds later, junior Crystal Connors scored her second on the weekend to push the Saints lead to final score of 4-0.

Senior SLU goalie Jessica Moffat stopped all 18 shots in the game for her ninth career shutout and fourth at St. Lawrence. St. Lawrence was whistled for nine penalties in the game and 16 in the series, but did not
surrender a power play goal over the weekend. Wayne State was called for four penalties in the game and just six in the series. Warriors’ netminder Valery Turcotte posted 21 saves in the loss.
