Power play production lifts Wentworth over Plymouth State

Trailing 1-0 after two periods, the Wentworth Leopards rallied with three goals in the third period to beat Plymouth State, 3-1. It was the third time this year that Wentworth beat Plymouth on its own ice, and increased the Leopards winning streak to 11. In addition to being the first NCAA Tournament victory for Wentworth, the win marked the 100th career win for Leopards coach R.J. Tolan.

After a scoreless first period, Plymouth State struck first while on a power play when Chris Zaremba tipped J.C. Richardson’s pass by Alex Peck (16 saves) at 14:45.

However, Reed Rushing and Mike Paglino scored a pair of power-play goals in a six minute lead to give Wentworth the lead, and Kevin Crowe added an empty-net goal in the final minute to seal the win.

Wentworth will travel to Northfield, Vt., this Saturday to play Norwich.
