Shanahan’s first goal sends Princeton past Yale

Princeton rallied for three goals in the third period to defeat Yale 3-1 on Friday night at Hobey Baker Rink.

The game was scoreless until 18:56 of the second period, when Stephanie Mock gave Yale a 1-0 lead.

Denna Laing got the Tigers on the board at 7:07 of the third, and Christin Shanahan netted her first career collegiate goal a few minutes later to give Tigers a 2-1 lead. Goaltender Kimberly Newell held the Bulldogs off the board in the third, finishing the game with 28 saves.

Sally Butler scored an empty-net goal late in the third to seal the win for Princeton.

Jaimie Leonoff made 25 saves for Yale.
