Garbowsky, RIT roll past American International for series sweep

Matt Garbowsky had a goal and three assists, and seven Rochester Institute of Technology players scored in a series-clinching 7-1 victory over American International on Saturday.

The Tigers swept the best-of-three Atlantic Hockey first-round playoff series.

Chris Saracino, Dan Schuler, Nolan Descoteaux and Brad McGowan scored to build a 4-0 lead for RIT. Garbowsky, Ben Lynch and Jeff Smith added third-period goals.

Chris Porter scored for the Yellow Jackets, who got 23 saves on 30 shots from Ben Meisner. Backup Chandler Long stopped the only shot he faced in relief.

Jordan Ruby made 33 saves for the Tigers.
