Vakos nets four goals as Plattsburgh advances to NCAA semifinals with win over Williams

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Ali Vakos scored all four goals for Plattsburgh, which beat Williams 4-1 in the NCAA quarterfinals on Saturday.

The Cardinals will host the women’s Division III NCAA semifinals and finals next weekend at Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. Plattsburgh plays St. Thomas, while Norwich plays Wisconsin-River Falls.

Gabrielle Vukasin scored 1:15 into the game for Williams (15-10-3), but Vakos potted goals late in the first, early and midway through the second and early in the third.

Sydney Aveson stopped 24 shots for Plattsburgh (26-1-1), while Chloe Billadeau made 45 saves for Williams.
