PRINCETON, N.J. — Kyle Hayton made 41 saves, and four different St. Lawrence players tallied two points each as the 14th-ranked Saints defeated Princeton 5-1 Friday night.
Ryan Lough netted the only goal of the first midway through the period after corralling the puck at center ice, skating into the zone and firing the puck past Colton Phinney for his second goal of the year.
After the Saints increased their lead to 3-0 on goals by Bryan Ward and Michael Laidley, the Tigers got on the board at 12:31 of the second, as Max Becker netted his first collegiate goal.
But the Saints offense put the game away by 12:07 of the third with two more goals by Alex Hagen and Joe Sullivan.
Mike Marnell and Ben Masella tallied two assists each for the Saints, who improved to 8-3-1 (3-1 ECAC Hockey).
Hayton was named first star of the game, improving to 8-3 on the season. Ward and Laidley were named second and third star.
Phinney stopped 29 shots for Princeton before being replaced by Ben Halford (six saves) midway though the third period.
