PRINCETON, N.J. — Kimberly Newell made 22 saves to earn the shutout and Jaimie McDonell tallied three assists as Princeton defeated Penn State 4-0 on Friday night.
After a scoreless first period, Molly Contini tallied the eventual game-winner at 9:27 of the second, as a McDonell shot deflected off of Contini’s leg and found its way past Nittany Lions’ goaltender Hannah Ehresmann.
The Tigers added three more goals in the third, as Cassidy Tucker tallied on a breakaway just 1:39 into the period, followed by Kelsey Koelzer and Fiona McKenna, who also skated in one on one with Nittany Lions’ goaltender Ehresmann.
Newell improved to 8-3-1, recording her second shutout of the season.
Ehresmann stopped 38 shots in the game for Penn State.
